![]() I am seriously rethinking my actual need to be putting out funds for this use case in the future. Realizing that I just sound like a curmudgeon about it. Then you have to hope that either it isn't some junk knockoff as the only thing available on Amazon or the like, or that the OEM one hasn't been sitting on some warehouse shelf since you bought the laptop. And to add insult to injury, commonly the better/OEM batteries can be upwards of half the value of the laptop by that point. I have variously tried to leave them plugged in, or the above method to try and keep the battery happy and it just never fails to have a battery go bad on the system.I understand it being a part of the experience.but here we go again tearing into the laptop to get at a part that everyone knows is a serviceable item. that Windows and other programs want to do, tool around on it for a moment and put it back up. In the meantime I try to take good care of the laptop in that I hook it up every few weeks, let it charge, do all the updates and maint. Just about the only use case is to check in to the office and take care of any outstanding things that won't wait for my return. I have need of a laptop about one or two times a year. That includes even carrying video cables in the bag such that when I get to the 'lodgings' I can hook it up to the TV or whatnot there for use. Any time I do I basically emulate a desktop scenario anyway, when I can. ![]() I really don't like them so far as to work on it. ![]() I cannot properly voice just how exasperated it makes me to purchase a laptop and then have to risk breaking things to tear it down far enough to get inside to even SEE if I can add a stick of RAM, or what it is going to take to repaste some years down the road, change the battery and so on. As unrealistic as it is, wouldn't it be nice for laptop manufacturers to come back around to service doors for the RAM, drive(s), and a removable battery again? ![]()
